Even though Rochester, MN, had over 10 inches of snow, by Friday morning, the roads were clear, and after a quick stop at a local bakery (check out Daubes Bakeries if you are ever in Rochester http://www.daubesbakery.com/) for Easter treats, Elizabeth and I made it home in record time. Dinner at Main View started the weekend off right, but the events of Saturday made the 16+ hour round trip drive worth it. On Saturday, Lucas and his girlfriend took the redeye flight home from California in order to be home with Elizabeth, and Elizabeth's boyfriend arrived early in the morning. Rest of the day was spent eating and talking with family who arrived for the festivities.
This afternoon, after church and lunch with family friends, Brian and Elizabeth headed back to Minnesota for the final two weeks of treatments. Our quick jaunt home offered Elizabeth a much needed reprieve, and the next two weeks seem much more manageable. As you continue to hold her close in your thoughts and prayers, know Elizabeth feels the positive energy. The heartfelt letters, kind texts, funny cards, and sentimental gifts continue to make her days bearable. One wall in her room is already filled with notes and cards, and they have started to wrap around to the adjoining wall.
As the Easter weekend comes to a close, we are reminded of how important life, death, and promises are to our journeys. We hope you enjoy the sweetness of your own journeys, and remember to take time to be present in the moment.
